The Mercure Lille Metropole is a modern, three storey hotel built in 1974 and set in peaceful gardens eight kilometres from the historic, lively city centre. The 72 guestrooms feature muted tones and contemporary furnishings, and are equipped with satellite television, direct dial phones, dial up and wireless Internet connections, minibars and complimentary bottled water. Bathrooms include robes and designer toiletries.
L'Europe Brasserie serves regional and international dishes in a contemporary setting, while L'Ascot Bar offers light meals and a wide range of whiskies, champagnes and international beers, accompanied by live piano music. Those with laptops can surf the web and plan sightseeing itineraries via public wireless Internet access, and complimentary newspapers are available in the lobby. Staff at the 24 hour desk can offer advice on local sights and attractions, exchange currency and provide around the clock room service. The hotel houses 12 meeting and conference rooms that are able to accommodate up to 500 people; all include audio visual equipment. Guests arriving by car will find complimentary parking on site. The early 18th century Church of Sainte Marie Madeleine and the 17th century Flers Castle can both be found within 4.5 kilometres of the hotel. Those with families can spend a day at Lille Zoo, eight kilometres away. Lille's main railway station is eight kilometres from the hotel. Lille Airport is 15 kilometres away, with an approximate driving time of 20 minutes.
