Built in 1987 and renovated in 2005, Scandic Kuopio is situated by Lake Kallavesi between the harbour and V�in�l�nniemi Park, one kilometre from the town centre. This six floor hotel features 138 guestrooms with simple, fresh decor and parquet floors; amenities include satellite television with pay movies, minibars, clock radios and hair dryers.
Guests can swim in the indoor pool or go for walks around the lake. During the winter months, cross country skiing tracks which begin outside the hotel are also available to use. Less energetic guests can unwind in the solarium, spa pool and three saunas, one of which has an open fireplace. Guests can also unwind with a drink in the bar while enjoying the views of the lake and dine on Scandinavian cuisine in the informal restaurant. Families with children will appreciate the play room with its toys and games while guests with business needs benefit from eight meeting rooms and a 24 hour business centre. Traditional white boats leave from the adjacent harbour for Cruises of Lake Kallavesi and the Art Nouveau style building of Kuopio museum is nearby. Kuopio Airport is 16 kilometres away with an approximate driving time of 20 minutes.
